Description
Soft Brome is a common, winter-annual grass with soft hairy leaves and sheaths which grow to the height of 30-60cm. It is tufted in habit with panicles of nodding or erect flowering spikelets produced in early summer through May, June & July.
Habitat Information
Widely distributed, Soft Brome favours moderately fertile soils, liking disturbed or open habitats. It can be found growing naturally in pastures, meadows & on coastal cliffs. It does not form a persistent seed bank and is intolerant of persistent mowing or cutting.
Growing Information
Soft Brome seed can be sown at any time of the year when soil conditions are suitable.
