Description
Venus’s-looking-glass is an annual herb in the Campanulaceae (bellflower) family. It has wavy green leaves and purple flowers, occasionally white. It’s oval fruits which appear inside the seed-capsule are said to resemble polished brass hand-mirrors, hence its name.
Habitat Information
It is found mainly in southern and eastern England in stony, bare or cultivated areas. It is known to be an arable weed, once widespread, but has now declined. It is sensitive to chemicals sprays.
