Description
Wood dock has a flower spike of loose, distant whorls and lanceolate leaves. It can be confused with Rumex conglomeratus (Clustered dock) but this has a slightly zigzag stem and is rarely found growing in the shade.
Habitat Information
Our only shade tolerant dock, Wood dock is a short-lived, native perennial of woodland margins, clearings and rides, hedgerows and road verges. It usually favours damp, clayey conditions but can be found on a wide range of soils.
