Description
Also known as Sea Pink. A short (up to 30 cm) compact plant which forms a dense, mounded tuft of stiff, linear, grass-like, dark green leaves. Thrift produces small rose pink pompom flower heads which are borne on bare stems considerably taller than the leaves. Flowering is from May to July.
Habitat Information
Thrift is a native perennial found around the coasts of Britain on cliffs, salt marshes and stabilised shingle and also inland, particularly in the north and west, on mountain rock ledges, shingle river banks and mine spoils.
