We’re excited to share a stunning example of wild flower success at Great Chalfield Manor in Wiltshire – a collaborative conservation project with the National Trust and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. 140 hectares of land at Great Chalfield will be managed in partnership between the two charities to transform the farm into a thriving hub for nature’s recovery and regenerative farming.
The Project:
As part of their large-scale habitat creation and restoration efforts, we were proud to supply several of our perennial meadow mixtures, sown alongside our Cornfield Annual mixture EC1. The sowing took place in autumn last year, withEC1 sown at a low rate of just 10kg/hectare (1g/sq.m) to complement the slower-establishing perennial species.
The Results:
A breathtaking flush of colour and biodiversity in the first season, providing early public interest, habitat, and pollinator value while the longer-term meadow communities establish.
We visited the site this week and were blown away by the display. Here are a few of our favourite photos from the visit:

Why This Matters:
- EC1 is ideal for short-term colour in new meadows
- Low sowing rates avoid overshadowing perennial species
- Autumn sowing can produce fantastic results with good seedbed preparation
We’re delighted to have contributed to such a meaningful project, and we hope this inspires your own wildflower ventures, whether you’re creating new habitat, restoring species-rich grassland, or simply adding beauty to your garden.
