At Emorsgate Seeds, environmental responsibility underpins everything we do. Our work focuses on restoring and enhancing habitats through the production and supply of native wild seed, while operating as a responsible employer and business. From how we manage our land to how we support our staff, we aim to make decisions that deliver long-term environmental and social benefits.
Natural Meadow Management Our traditional meadows are managed with 20 Shire horses using conservation grazing methods. This supports biodiversity while helping to preserve rare and traditional breeds.
Wildlife Monitoring We carry out annual biodiversity surveys across the farm, monitoring birds, like this buzzard seen on our Norfolk farm long with moths, and native crayfish to track the positive environmental impact of our farming methods.
Water-Wise Our farming practices prioritise water conservation and the protection of nearby ecosystems. A wildlife pond filters polytunnel runoff, and at our Bath farm all water comes from a natural spring.
Land Management for Nature We manage habitat-rich field margins to support pollinators and increase biodiversity. Since 2023, we’ve planted over 4,000 trees and restored hedgerows to support wildlife year-round.
Plastic-free Packaging All of our packaging is 100% plastic-free and compostable. Thoughtfully designed so you can shop sustainably, with peace of mind.
Soil Health We promote soil health through crop rotation, natural composting, brush harvesting and low till practices helping to retain soil carbon, reduce erosion, and minimise damage to wildlife.
Our Team We are proud to be a family business that employs people for decades, notably Albert Hughes – 35 years, Mark Schofield – 30 years, Carl Cockle – 26 years and Marion Robinson – 21 years. In addition we have multiple generations and multiple members of households.
Education & Charity We host meadow days and farm visits, inspiring curiosity and a connection to nature. We also donate seeds to schools and charities to help grow learning, wellbeing, and opportunity.
