ESG1 – Basic Fine Grass Mixture

Composition

This basic grass mixture is composed of low growing fine grasses for seeding buffer strips,margins and field corners.

Sown along headlands ESG1 will produce permanent grass cover which can act as a barrier to problem hedgerow weeds such as cleavers and sterile brome.  This mixture is also tolerant of some graminicides where spraying is appropriate.

Management should follow stewardship guidelines. The low productivity of the grasses in ESG1  mean that the mowing requirement is minimised. (more on grassland management)

ESG1 may be sown in combination with pollen & nectar mixtures ESF2 or ESF3 or meadow flowers ESF1
