Winter wildlife snow shelters

Areas of uncut tussocky grassland around our meadows has provided an excellent refuge for wildlife through the recent spell of cold weather and snow.

Activity safe within the snow covered grass tussocks was most evident once the snow had melted revealing a network of vole runs through the grass stems.  The barn owls on our Norfolk farm have been sighted keeping a close watch over these areas!

Tussock grassland can be provided in established meadows by leaving some edges or corners uncut.  EM10 Tussock mixture can be used to sow areas on new sites.
